After watering and measuring the growth in the Rocket Seeds for over a Month. The team of Rocket Scientists travelled up to York University for a #principia Conference hosted by the UK Space Agency. During this conference the team were able to present their findinds and explain how this had counted towards different badges. The day was even more of a success, when they actually got to meet Tim Peake who attended the event. There are now only days left in our Rocket Science Experiment. On Conclusion of the experiment, we will upload all the information so you can have a look.
In the meantime, here are a selection of photos showing the progress. Although it was Bank Holiday weekend, the Rocket Seed team were still in action as they continue with their Rocket Science Experiments. The weekend saw three visits to tend to the seeds. First on Friday night during Scouts for a watering session, in which the whole team took part. Then Saturday, saw Robin as the nominated Scout to record the percentage of growth, which is averaging around 95%! Before Bank holiday Monday saw another watering session taking place. On Monday evening, 25th April, the Scouts on "Rocket Seed Duty" went up to water the seeds and log any growth from over the weekend. Early signs suggest that soon we will have a number of shoots emerging from the compost.
Photo's will hopefully be available in the next update! On Wednesday night, a group of 4 Scouts met up at Church to begin the experiment. Robin, Katie, Isobel and Lewis all took time to fill trays with compost and plant one of the Rocket seeds in to each section. For this experiment there are two batches of seeds, one batch have returned after spending time aboard the International Space Station with British Astronaut Tim Peake, whilst the other batch has remained on Earth for the same amount of time. Over the next few weeks, the Scouts will be randomly checking the growth and development of the seeds, not knowing which seed has gone to space or not, only knowing them as a reference number. Hello and Welcome to our Rocket Science Blog Page
We hope to provide regular updates primarily through this Blog Page, and occasionally our Latest News Page for major updates with regards to the Scouts taking Part in the "Rocket Science" experiment. Our Rocket Science Seeds arrived in Nottingham yesterday, and are now being prepared to be set in compost tonight, when the first group of Scouts attend at Church to begin the experiment. |
