Uniform
Scouting is a uniformed organisation. When members join, they will need to buy a uniform before being invested into the Section/Group. Details of the uniform and where you can purchase these from are included below on this page.
All members at 5th Carlton are invested into the Group; this will see them make the Scout Promise in front of their Section, at a date and time agreed with the Section Leader. During the investiture, they will be officially presented with a Group Neckerchief (more details under 'Section Uniforms'), and an Investiture Badge set which will include 3 badges: The World Scout Membership Badge (purple circular badge, to go on the left breast side, or pocket of Scout Shirt), a Central Notts District and Nottinghamshire County Scout Badge (black rectangular badge, to go on right sleeve) and a 5th Carlton Scout Group Nametape (green rectangular badge, to go on right sleeve).
What badges can I transfer to my new Uniform?
Members moving up can wear their old uniform until they are invested into their new Section. Some badges can be moved to the new uniform - these include, your Investiture Badge set, the highest 'Joining In year badge' (a small square badge with a number inside a star), the highest Staged Badges (light blue with a purple border), and the highest Chief Scout Award. When they are invested into the next section, they will be issued with a new set of Investiture badges to be sewn on their new Section uniform.
Should you wish to purchase replacement or additional badges, please see our Badges page for more details and current prices.
Section Uniforms
Every Scouting activity requires members to wear the Group Necker as a minimum. Our Necker (Neckerchief) is yellow in colour with an inch-thick red border and, within Central Notts Scout District, is unique to 5th Carlton Scout Group (although other Groups across the country may wear similar Necker's).
Necker's are available to purchase from the Group, at a cost of £5.00 each. If your child is not invested your Necker will be presented at the time of investiture. For more details, please speak to your Section Leader.

In addition to our Group Necker, below are details for each section’s uniform, which forms the minimum uniform required for weekly meetings. Optional items of Scout Association clothing can be purchased, including section polo shirts, activity trousers, and activity shorts - however these are not necessary at 5th Carlton.
5th Carlton Polo Shirt
On some activities, our usual uniform isn't suitable for our young people to wear. Examples of this can include wide games and camps. Therefore the Group do offer an optional alternative group polo shirt which can be worn in these instances.
These are only available through 5th Carlton Scout Group and are made to order. As we don't hold much stock, there can be a delay between ordering and receiving the item. The polo shirts come in a range of sizes and are £9.50 for Children sizes, and can be purchased from the Group Scout Leader. |
