Shoebox Appeal 2020
Each year 5th Carlton Scout Group help make Christmas a better time for someone they don't know, as we encourage all members to fill Shoeboxes with stocking fillers for people who are less fortunate than ourselves.
As we launch our 2020 Appeal, we would hope that every Beaver, Cub, Scout and Leader is able to join in! For the young people, it completes elements to badges, whilst also keeping part of the Scout Law of being kind and helpful and thinking of others before ourselves.

How will our Shoebox Appeal operate in the light of Covid 19?
If Dave and his team at T4U have managed to overcome difficulties like awkward and threatening border controls and even warlords, then I am convinced that we can overcome the problems of Covid 19!
But we will obviously need to be careful and stay safe.
We will therefore be operating a registration system. If you are happy and willing to make up a shoebox, then you will need to:
1. Register your participation by filling out online registration form here.
2. Start collecting items for your box
A leaflet will be delivered to you, which gives clear instructions on what can and cannot be included in the shoebox (we cannot put toy soldiers or guns in, for instance, as the recipient may be affected by war. And, generally, no food items except non-chocolate sweets). All items must be new, but you don't have to spend a lot of money! ...... Wilko's and 'pound shops' do lots of cheap things - toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, flannels, combs & brushes, pencils, crayons, note pads, etc.
You will also receive a flat-pack box
3. Make an on-line payment of £2.50 for transportation or include the money or cheque in the envelope which is attached to your leaflet and hand it in when the box is collected from you.
The cut-off date for all 2020 donations is Sunday 8th November
